The paradise of aspiration in the poems of bui giang

Tran Nu Phuong Nhi

In light of archetypes and on the path to the collective unconscious, the diver- gent world of Bui Giangs poems appear from many different angles. In particular, the achetype Garden conveys to the reader a “paradise of aspirations” through two large icons: Spring and the colour Green. The self-portrait of the poet also emerges from here: Bui Giang appeares to be changing, living a second life, is a sage, always pondering, reminiscent, but also constantly dreaming of, and on the search for the profound original, good and joyous happiness of life.

Images of the sea in the epic works of thu bon, thanh thao and huu thinh

Nguyen A Say

Epic poetry is a special category. It was created in a particular period of his- tory, embracing in it the history of its time and carries on the epic narration. The sea in epic poetry is as well described from different angles. The poets Thu Bon, Thanh Thao, Huu Thinh wrote about the sea with their love for the country and its people, but as they go far into the sea they also feel the deep meaning hidden within. It is full of arduous marine life, painstaking. It also is a long journey full of philosophy about the human life, as well as full of thoughts, concerns, and per-sonal feelings about today’s life.

Cong luan bao and the tho moi movement

Nguyen Thanh Thao

The formation and strong development of the so called Tho moi (the new Poet- ry) in the 1930s provoked heated disputes between modern and traditional minds, between those representing the Tho moi and those in favor of the classical Chinese poetry. The authors of poetry in the style of Tho moi with their modern mindset and unique form of writing created a groundbreaking new poerty. The several decades ongoing disputation between the two opposing parties yet confirmed more and more strongly the victory of the Tho moi movement, and, that the new poetry was in accordance with the rules of times and human needs.

Cong luan bao was originally established as an organ of the colonial govern- ment. Initially it strongly opposed the development of Tho moi. Our research on the articles and literary criticisms published in the Cong luan bao will bring the readers some fresh points of view on the newspaper’s position towards the Tho Moi movement and the dispute between the “new” and the “old” poetry.
