TPO - On the 5th timehosting the "Red Sunday" event at Van Hien University, aimed at fostering community spirit among students. Participants, including students, alumni, faculty, and staff, contributed 200,000 VND each towards the "Step to School" scholarship fund, supporting students facing financial difficulties.
The 16th Red Sunday event, themed "Donate Blood, Save Lives – Your life and Mine", took place on December 3, 2024, at Van Hien University in Ho Chi Minh City.

Journalist Le Xuan Son - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Director of the Fund for Supporting Young Talent in Vietnam, Head of the National Red Sunday Organizing Committee, presented headbands to encourage the Red Sunday program to officials, employees, lecturers, and students of Van Hien University.
The program, organized in collaboration with Military Hospital 175 and the Ho Chi Minh City Southeast Mobile Police Regiment (under the Ministry of Public Security), attracted over 3,000 attendees including lecturers and students from VHU, HungHau Holdings and more than 50 mobile police soldiers, ect.
Especially, in response to the Red Sunday program, each student and alumni participating in the event, as well as faculty and staff of the university, will contribute 200,000 VND per person to the 'Step to School' scholarship. This initiative aims to illuminate the future for students facing difficult circumstances, providing them with additional motivation to strive for a better life.

The HungHau Heart Fund allocates 100 million VND to award 10 scholarships, each worth 10 million VND, to 10 students of Van Hien University.
This year's Red Sunday program attracted the participation of 3,000 faculty, staff, lecturers, and students who donated blood and supported the initiative. Consequently, the 'Step to School' scholarship fund from the HungHau Heart Fund received a total of 600 million VND.
Over the past period, the 'Step to School' scholarship program has provided essential support to many students, enabling them to pursue their dreams at the university through practical scholarship programs. These include full scholarships covering 100%, 70%, 50%, or 30% of the entire course tuition fees, as well as zero-interest tuition fee loan assistance programs.
With the contributions received in today's program, the HungHau Heart Fund will continue to carry out numerous activities and programs to aid students facing difficult circumstances, helping them take the steps toward their educational aspirations.

Van Hien University is proud to host the event for the 5th time, offering students an opportunity to enhance their sense of responsibility, sharing love and contribute to society.
With this noble gesture, each generation of Van Hien University students will pass on the torch to one another, contributing to the continuous development of a Van Hien student community that indicates the slogan “Humanity before Reputation”.

In response to the Red Sunday program, each generation of Van Hien students aims to uphold the tradition, creating a community that prioritizes humanity before reputation. Red Sunday, with the theme "Donate blood to save lives - Your life and mine," is led by the Tiền Phong newspaper in coordination with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, and other organizations, promoting voluntary blood donation and addressing severe blood shortages during the Lunar New Year.
Red Sunday has been organized for 15 consecutive years and has become a reputable and influential voluntary blood donation movement in society.
Over the past 15 years, Tien Phong Newspaper, proudly alongside other organizing units, has collaborated with the Youth Union, Associations of universities and academies, businesses, and various forces to achieve the dual objectives of mobilizing a significant quantity of blood each year and fostering the voluntary blood donation movement.

The 16th edition of the Red Sunday program in 2024 is scheduled to take place from November 2023 to the end of March 2024 in over 40 provinces and cities nationwide. It is expected to attract more than 100,000 participants, with approximately 45,000 - 50,000 blood donations anticipated during the event.
In today's program, aside from the blood donation activities, participating students also immerse themselves in a music festival and shopping event taking place right at the space of Van Hien University, organized by the students and youth union members themselves. Notably, the event will feature the presence of Miss Vietnam 2022, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, in her role as the program's ambassador.
Since its inception in early 2009, starting with one blood donation point in Hanoi collecting 96 units of blood, the Red Sunday blood donation event initiated by Tien Phong Newspaper with the message "Your life and mine" has truly evolved into a movement, a series of festive days organized in over 40 provinces and cities nationwide, with hundreds of blood donation points, collecting around 45,000 - 50,000 units of blood annually.
