On April 15, 2025, Van Hien University hosted a formal reception for the delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea at the Heritage Meeting Room, Nguyen Van Linh Campus. The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening collaboration in education, research, and cultural diplomacy between VHU and the Korean diplomatic mission.

A warm and welcoming atmosphere during the reception
The Korean delegation, led by Consul General H.E. Shin Choong-il, included vice consuls, consular officers, and administrative staff. On the side of VHU, the reception welcomed the university's leadership, department heads, academic staff, and a group of Korean Studies students.
In his welcoming remarks, VHU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc expressed the university’s aspirations to develop long-term partnerships through joint training programs such as the 2+2 model, as well as faculty and student exchange. He also highlighted two ongoing joint research projects between VHU and the Korean Consulate General. Both sides emphasized the strategic role of the Korean Studies Institute in Ho Chi Minh City as a bridge for collaboration and suggested building multilingual communication channels, especially in Korean, to promote VHU’s academic offerings.

The Consulate General acknowledged the efforts made by VHU and proposed to enhance connections with Korean enterprises and universities. Consul General Shin affirmed that the meeting was not only diplomatic but also a meaningful initiative to seek practical and sustainable solutions for bilateral cooperation.
In addition to the working session with university leaders, the Consul General held a dialogue with Korean Studies students, sharing insights into Korean culture, people, and spirit through a live conversation conducted in Korean. The activity not only enhanced students’ language and communication skills but also offered a rare opportunity to engage directly with a high-level diplomat and gain real-world exposure.

The students actively participated by asking thoughtful questions throughout the session
The reception left a positive impression on the Korean delegation and opened promising prospects for future cooperation. VHU proposed to maintain regular communication with the Consulate General, particularly through the Korean Studies Institute, and to establish a “Korean Cultural Space” on campus to support learning, cultural immersion, and student exchange activities.
