(VHU) – The journey from the lecture hall to a global enterprise is the shortest path for students to truly master knowledge. Recently, Psychology students from Van Hien University (VHU) visited AEON Binh Tan to directly explore the Omotenashi culture and the professional human resource management system of one of Japan’s leading retail corporations.
Decoding Omotenashi: When Psychology Becomes the Art of Service
The highlight of the trip was the opportunity for students to engage directly with Omotenashi—the spirit of wholehearted service, a distinctive cultural legacy of Japan. For Psychology students (including both Counseling Psychology and Human Resource Management majors), this was not merely a lesson in customer service, but a profound demonstration of empathy and human behavior application.

During the visit, VHU students observed how AEON brings this philosophy to life through even the smallest details. Understanding the psychology of customers and colleagues proved to be the key that helped students recognize the real-world value of their field of study in building satisfaction and trust in business environments.
Dialogue with Experts: Real-World Human Resource Management Challenges
As part of the program, students engaged in direct discussions with AEON’s HR experts on key topics, including:
• Building corporate culture: How to unite a diverse workforce within a large-scale organizational system.
• Employee engagement: Applying psychological principles to transform traditionally rigid HR processes into meaningful and value-driven connections.
Through these exchanges, students clearly saw how psychology is applied in management to build internal strength for organizations by focusing on human factors.
Bridging the Gap Between Academia and the Labor Market
The visit to AEON Binh Tan was considered a valuable “extended classroom” within Van Hien University’s application-oriented training strategy. Early exposure to the rigorous standards of a multinational corporation helps students develop professional working styles and greater confidence when facing real-world labor market demands.

At the end of the journey, VHU students returned not only with new professional knowledge but also with a positive shift in career mindset. The combination of psychological insight and management skills serves as a solid foundation for Van Hien students to become high-quality human resources in the future.
