Particularly, the field of media has been undergoing significant transformations. The role of digital media is crucial in economic sectors, especially during periods of recovery and stability, marked by various global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, trade wars, and military conflicts.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, the President of Van Hien University, delivered a speech at the conference.
In this context, Van Hien University organized an international scientific conference "Digital Media and Economic Recovery" with the participation of numerous economic and media experts. The conference aimed to seek solutions and provide policy recommendations to develop the digital media sector in the country.
The organizing committee received over 100 submissions in English and Vietnamese and selected 77 papers for presentation. Among them, 56 papers focused on digital media (including 25 papers by international authors) and 17 papers addressed economic topics (including 8 papers by international authors). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc highly evaluated the high scientific value of the presented papers from authors representing both domestic and international universities and businesses.
Powerful impacts on various sectors and professions
In their submissions, the authors emphasized the pervasive and powerful impact of digital technology on almost all sectors and professions. Despite the significant potential, Vietnam faces numerous challenges.
During the conference, Mr. Nguyen To Binh, Deputy Secretary-General of the editorial board of Người Lao Động newspaper, shared the rapid advancements of artificial intelligence (AI) and the emergence of ChatGPT, which have presented both opportunities and risks for the global media industry.
"For journalists, thanks to ChatGPT, we have reduced our reliance on the dominant search tool of the past decades, Google, and at the same time, we have access to a fast and extensive source of data to facilitate more convenient content creation," Mr. Binh stated.
"Vietnamese media is currently in the midst of a technological storm, and only by cleverly adapting can it survive," said Mr. Nguyen To Binh, Deputy Secretary-General of the editorial board of Người Lao Động newspaper.
According to Ms. Tran Ai Tien from the Accounting and Finance Department of Van Hien University, digital technology has rapidly developed in recent years, and its applications have demonstrated value in any business, including education. In the higher education sector, digital tools combined with technological advancements have improved teaching methods, forms, and tools. This has allowed for the continuity of teaching and learning even during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is considered a significant turning point in the application of digital technology in human education.
In the paper "Digital Economy in Vietnam: From Policy to Implementation," Mr. Tran Quy, the Director of the Vietnam Institute of Digital Economy, stated that the digital economy has become a crucial factor in the economic development of countries worldwide, including Vietnam. The Vietnamese government has recognized the potential and importance of the digital economy, leading to the implementation of various policies and measures to promote its development.
However, Vietnam still faces challenges and difficulties in developing the digital economy. Limited network infrastructure, especially in rural and mountainous areas, hinders access to and utilization of digital technology for certain individuals and businesses. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the capacity to train high-quality human resources in the digital economy field to meet the increasing demands of the labor market. This requires investment and the development of training programs, skill-sharing, and knowledge dissemination on digital skills, data management, and technology project management.
According to Mr. Miquel Angel Perez Martorell from MQL Sustainable Tourism Services, in the current stage of digital economic development, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining attention in almost all industries. Human resource management is not exempt from this modern technology trend. Businesses are implementing AI solutions in their human resource management processes to improve HR functions and optimize recruitment processes.
The application of artificial intelligence, combined with big data, will replace human resource tasks such as recruitment, evaluation, training, development, and employee engagement. Big data will enable HR professionals to delegate the most labor-intensive tasks and retain decision-making and problem-solving responsibilities.
Associate Professor Tran Anh Dung, Vice President of Van Hien University, expressed gratitude to the accompanying organizations.
The International Scientific Conference on "Digital Media and Economic Recovery" focused on six topics: digital media in the public sector, digital media in production and business, digital media in education and training, digital media with the press, human resources for digital transformation, and issues related to the role of digital media in economic recovery.
