Stellar Musical Theater, a renowned art school from the United States, brought an exciting and culturally enriching performance to Vietnam on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. The event, held at Room 803, HungHau Campus, attracted a large number of art students and distinguished faculty members from VHU.
Stellar Musical Theater is a place where young talents come together to stage musical productions and organize performances at various venues throughout the year, including international tours during the summer. Here, students are trained in the art of musical theater, ranging from renowned musicals to classic music compositions. The training program emphasizes dance techniques, vocal skills, and performance abilities. The development of singing, eye contact, facial expressions, and body language is highly prioritized.
The performance was divided into two main parts. The first part featured a series of musical and dance numbers performed by students from Stellar Musical Theater, offering a diverse experience of European/American music and dance styles. These performances included iconic and contemporary pieces such as songs from the 50s Elvis era and famous Broadway musicals like Newsies, Oklahoma, Sweet Charity, Disney's Hercules and Frozen, Swing Kids.
The second part of the program involved an exchange with students from VHU. The audience had the opportunity to enjoy contemporary performing arts, opera, and traditional Vietnamese opera (cải lương) performances by VHU students, creating an atmosphere of cultural fusion and exchange. During the cultural exchange segment, students from both schools had the chance to share their lives, studies, and passion for the arts. This valuable opportunity fostered understanding and connection between two different cultures and artistic traditions.
The performance offered an energetic and diverse experience of music and dance. Each segment featured captivating dance moves, stunning costumes, and familiar American cultural references such as the 50s Elvis era and the American Wild West, among others. The program this year showcased music from renowned Broadway shows like Newsies, Oklahoma, Sweet Charity, Disney's Hercules and Frozen, Swing Kids, just to name a few.
The performance by Stellar Musical Theater left a profound impression on the students at VHU. The combination of music and dance artistry created a memorable evening that inspired young artists both from Vietnam and the international community.
