On 19th and 20th August, 2016, Van Hien University is organizing a workshop called “Sustainable Development of Vietnam’s Sea And Island Tourism in the Integration Era” to create a forum for sharing scientific points of view about international integration and discussing solutions to sustainably develop Vietnam’s Sea and Island Tourism, meeting the integration requirements of the country. The participants of this workshop include various experts, researchers along with the representatives of Faculties of Culture, Sports, and Tourism from 28 coastal provinces, and leaders of many Vietnamese universities and colleges having tourism education. More importantly, there will be a keynote presentation by Dr. Le Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of Training Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The workshop participants will analyze and discuss the specific and important roles of development strategies for domestic sea and island tourism. A number of solutions to take advantage of sea tourism potentials effectively, especially the island system. In fact, the development of Sea and Island tourism will foster the development of many other economic sectors, creating more jobs in coastal areas where 21.2 million people at working age are living and contributing to the sea defense and environmental protection.
Furthermore, several presentations at this upcoming workshop also focus on improving people’s awareness of their roles in integrating process and marine economic development. As can be seen, Vietnam’s sea and island are facing environmental problems, including sea pollution and sea level rising, badly affecting the country’s sustainability.
This event is also a great opportunity for young people, in general, and VHU students majoring in Tourism, in particular, to deeply understand the importance of sustainable development of Vietnam’s sea and island tourism. They are the future employees to guarantee the effective exploitation and sea-island tourism potentials with the connection to national defense in line with the trend of Vietnam's international integration.
