STUDENTS FROM THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY EXPERIENCING THE PROFESSION: 'A DAILY WORK OF A HEALTHCARE WORKER IN MEDICAL EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT ACTIVITIES

Aiming to provide the most realistic experience regarding the nature of the Núing profession at healthcare facilities, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at Văn Hiến University recently organized a two-day professional experience session at the Bình Chánh District Health Center, Bình Hưng Health Station, and Phong Phú Health Station.

Accompanying the students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy on this experiential journey was Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung, Ph.D. – Head of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Nurse Specialist Tran Thi Huyen, MSc. - Head of the Nursing Department, and Dr. Le Thi Kim Chi, Ph.D. – Faculty Lecturer.

At the healthcare facilities visited, the students directly gained insights from the esteemed Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy professors about the roles, functions, and routine tasks of a healthcare worker, including the activities of Doctors, Nurses, and other healthcare staff.

During the visit, Ms. Đỗ Thị Ngọc Tuyết, Head of the Personnel Organization Department at the Bình Chánh District Health Center, shared insights into the operational and organizational activities, as well as the roles and functions of each Department/Division within the Health Center, emphasizing that all actions must ensure optimal medical examination, treatment, and disease prevention for the community. Additionally, the Heads of the Health Centers in Bình Hưng and Phong Phú Communes also dedicatedly shared with the students about the management of medical examination and treatment activities and the 72 national tasks as per Circular 33 of the Ministry of Health concerning the provision and implementation of primary healthcare services to the people in their respective areas.

After the 02-day session, the Nursing students from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy gained initial insights into the field they are studying. These practical experiences will further nurture their dreams and encourage them to strive for academic excellence, aiming towards the mission of patient healthcare and, more broadly, serving the national healthcare activities.
