MoU signing ceremony between Van Hien University and Seneca College - Canada and Lauching Canada Corner Opening Ceremony

On Thursday, May 4, 2023, a ceremony took place at Hung Hau Campus - Van Hien University (VHU). The signing of the MoU between VHU and Seneca College, as well as the launch of Canada Corner, marked an important moment for Vietnam-Canada education relations.

The ceremony was attended by delegates from both VHU and Seneca College. VHU was represented by Associate Professor Nguyen Minh Duc, the President of Van Hien University; Mr. Tran Anh Dung, the Vice President; Mr. Nguyen Duy Cuong, the Head of Scientific Management and International Corporation Department; Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Thao, the Deputy Director of the Graduate and International Training Institute; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, the Deputy Director of the Learning Resources Center.

Seneca College delegates included Mr. David Agnew, the President of Seneca College; Mrs. Renata Dinnocenzo, the Vice-President; Mr. Nick Huang, the Director of Business Development, East and Southeast Asia; Mr. Damon Nguyen, the Business Development Manager, East and Southeast Asia; and Ms. Le Huynh Dong Anh, the Regional Business Development Officer – Vietnam. Additionally, Ms. Tu Nguyen, Trade Commissioner, Vietnam Education Lead, from the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City, was also present.

The ceremony was also attended by over 30 VHU students and reporters and journalists from various media outlets such as Ho Chi Minh Television (HTV), Sài gòn giải phóng newspapers, Người lao động newspapers, and Giáo dục thời đại newspapers.

Seneca College, located in Toronto, Canada, is one of the largest public colleges, with approximately 90,000 students annually. The college offers a wide range of programs in business, engineering, health sciences, media, and IT. Known for its experiential learning approach and industry partnerships, Seneca boasts modern facilities, including housing, sports amenities, and food options.

The signing of the MoU between VHU and Seneca College marks a crucial milestone in their long-term cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding signed at the ceremony opens doors for collaborative efforts in academic programs, research, and faculty and student exchange programs. Key areas of cooperation include student exchange programs between Vietnam and Canada, English language learning programs, practical skill enhancement courses for VHU students at Seneca Canada, and postgraduate programs for VHU students with work permits to work in Canada.

In addition to the MoU, the launching of Canada Corner, sponsored by Seneca College, is a significant achievement promoting Vietnam-Canada friendship and education. Canada Corner will serve as a hub for Seneca College souvenirs and documents, showcasing Seneca College's presence at VHU and contributing to the diversity of VHU's library. Seneca will also sponsor research papers, monographs, and references annually.

The ceremony was a cheerful occasion, emphasizing the shared values and visions that unite VHU and Seneca College. The collaboration between the two institutions holds promise for innovative and impactful projects that contribute to societal advancement.
