Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, President of Van Hien University, delivered the opening remarks of the conference.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, commended the university’s efforts in enhancing education quality and scientific research. He acknowledged the contribution of 139 submitted papers from domestic and international scholars, with 86 selected for publication in the conference proceedings. This reflects Van Hien University’s commitment to education and the development of high-quality human resources, particularly in the tourism sector.
The conference presentations were organized into five key thematic groups: (1) innovation and green management in tourism and hospitality; (2) sustainable tourism development; (3) technological applications in tourism; (4) destination research, cultural heritage, and tourist behavior; and (5) policies promoting the circular economy. These studies not only provided theoretical foundations but also offered governance solutions and practical experiences from various countries, affirming that green tourism is a necessary direction in the context of climate change and global environmental crises.

A central topic of discussion was the training and development of human resources for green tourism. Experts noted that building a workforce equipped with knowledge of sustainability, environmental management, digital transformation, and social responsibility poses a significant challenge. Therefore, higher education institutions must integrate subjects such as green tourism management, environmental risk governance, ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance), and tourism data management into their curricula to meet labor market demands.

The in-depth panel discussion provided participants with the opportunity to present
their perspectives and further analyze critical issues related to the conference’s research theme.

Many opinions at the conference also suggested that tourism professionals in the new era must transcend traditional “service” roles to become creative experts capable of designing green solutions. Developing appropriate training programs and strengthening connections between universities, businesses, communities, and local authorities are considered key factors for sustainable industry growth.
