Educational planning for elementary and secondary schools: a comparative perspective and some suggestions

The major tendency of the advanced educational systems in the world is to design the educational curriculum for elementary and secondary schools in strongly integrated way for lower classes and in increasingly differentiated way for higher ones; to decrease compulsory courses and increase elective courses and activities for students. That is also the orientation to the educational reform conducted by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Traning. This article analyses international experiences, namely those of South Korea, Japan and partly America, in building of educational plan; compares their educational plans with Vietnam’s, and proposes some specific suggestions to reform Vietnam’s educational plan after 2015.
