THE FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES

 

Established in 2007, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Van Hien University defines its mission as providing students with fundamental knowledge of history, geography, economics, culture, and society of East Asian countries. The focus is on proficiently using foreign language skills and applying them professionally in fields such as translation, commerce, tourism, and teaching, etc in the context of international integration.

Application-oriented Programs

Training is geared towards practical applications, allowing students to choose specialized fields based on their abilities and interests. Specialized programs provide skills and expertise in areas such as translation and interpretation, commerce, tourism, and teaching.

Emphasis is placed on practical training and real-world experience through activities and internships in businesses.

Diverse Student Life Experience

Students experience a vibrant student life through various cultural, physical, aesthetic and community service activities. With over 30 clubs, students can explore hidden values and become the best versions of themselves.

International student exchanges, cultural experiences in East Asian countries, student-student exchanges between universities and high schools, and talent competitions are organized regularly. 

International Internship and Study Abroad Opportunities

Students have the chance to participate in international paid internships lasting 3, 6, or 12 months in Japan and South Korea.

Short-term student exchange programs and collaborative training models (2+2, 3+1, etc.) offer opportunities for students to study abroad, enhance their knowledge and skills, and explore the culture and people of East Asian countries.

In 2024, the faculty plans to expand two more programs including: developing the Korean Studies into a separate major, and launching a Master's program in Oriental Studies.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTION 

The Faculty of Oriental Studies aims to become a reputable and quality-oriented training institution, meeting the demand for human resources in language, commerce, tourism, and related teaching fields concerning East Asian countries in the context of international integration.

KEY ACTIVITIES

The faculty plans to expand professions and training levels, continuously improve programs based on applied orientation, participate in quality assessments nationally and internationally, and develop a team of lecturers. The focus is on enhancing teaching methods, providing practical experiences, incorporating foreign lecturers, and establishing teaching assistant models.

Collaboration with international partners, maintaining relationships with businesses in and outside the country, and offering opportunities for internships, study abroad, and post-graduation employment are also emphasized.

The development of clubs and groups associated with each specialization, the promotion of exchange activities, and organizing competitions aim to create an environment for students to showcase their talents, gain inspiration in their studies, and have a meaningful university experience.
