ESTABLISHMENT OF VIETNAM - KOREA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION AT VHU

Recently, at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City organized a cultural exchange program commemorating the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 22, 1992 - December 22, 2023), under the theme "Enhancing Vietnam - Korea Friendship".

The event was attended by Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Lee Hye Kyung, First Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board on Democracy, Peace, and Reunification Affairs of the Korean Presidential Office; Mr. Shon In Sun, Chairman of the Korean Community in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the cultural exchange program aimed to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea, marking one year since the two countries upgraded to comprehensive strategic partners, and to celebrate the success of the 3rd Congress of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2023 - 2028.

On this occasion, Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association, approved the establishment of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association branch at Van Hien University along with two other colleges and universities in the city: HCMC University of Industry and Trade, HCMC College of Economics and Technology. Faculty of Oriental Studies has three members participating in the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association at Van Hien University: Dr. Le Si Hai, MA. Chenh Cao Ngoc Linh, and MA. Cao Thuy Oanh. It is hoped that the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association at Van Hien University will serve as a bridge to expand and strengthen friendship between Vietnam and Korea in the future, bringing practical benefits to both lecturers and students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies in general and the Korean Studies Department in particular.

The cultural exchange program also featured various performances, from traditional to modern, showcasing the cultural fusion of Vietnam and Korea, such as the "Vang khuc ca xuan" performed by artists from the Traditional Music Association of the Cultural Heritage Society of Ho Chi Minh City and the An Viet Dance Troupe; "Va toi hat" mashup dance (Thu Duc College of Technology); Vovinam martial arts performance (Vovinam Association); Taekwondo performance; duet "Giac mo ngay xua" (Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade); Destiny dance performance (Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities); "Together - We are stronger" performance (Samsung Vina Company)... Particularly, at the event, the Korean Studies Club of Van Hien University introduced the traditional Korean dance "Ganggangsullae".

Congratulations on the successful completion of the conference. With the hope of further strengthening, enhancing, and expanding the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea across various fields, especially in education and training.
